Pharrell Williams — performer, songwriter, producer, designer and entrepreneur — sat down for a rare, in-depth, career retrospective discussion with Jason King, professor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and host of NPR Music’s R&B channel “I”ll Take You There.” The conversation took place on Monday, Oct. 26 at New York City’s Town Hall.
King moderated a freewheeling and in-depth discussion on Pharrell’s legacy of creativity, blending music, fashion, design and his singular style, from his beginnings as a teenage prodigy and multi-instrumentalist in Virginia Beach in the early ’90s through the hits that earned him Billboard’s Producer of the Decade in 2010 to his current status as multi-media superstar.

Alicia Keys, Pharrell, and Kendrick Lamar join forces on a track, “It’s On Again,” for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie soundtrack. Seasoned composer Hans Zimmer who we can thank for a countless number of movie scores, will also have a hand in this. I doubt it will be anything short of amazing. Pharrell adds:
“Hans has created an iconic score theme and it was exciting to collaborate with him again on this song. When I was making the song, I knew Alicia and Kendrick had to be on it. They take the song to a whole new level.”
The soundtrack will also included songs from Incubus’ Mike Einziger, Johnny Marr, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski, and Steve Mazzaro.
The sound track will hit the shelves April 22nd, 2014 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014.

It comes as no surprise when Pharrell does something out the box. The producer, I am Other creator, and all around innovator has made a 24 hour video for his new song Happy. Yes you heard right, the video is 24 hour long and consists of footage of people dancing, skating, shopping and everything in betwee. The song comes from Despicable Me 2 soundtrack and is launched on his new website 24 Hours of Happy. If you head over there, you’ll catch the portion of the video that corresponds with your current time.
I posted the official video below, which is only four minutes long and has a few celebrity cameos including Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Check it out.
