While her most recent songs — “Chi-Raq” and the Soulja Boy-powered “Yasss Bish!!” — displayed Nicki Minaj’s return to sharpened rap steez, the lead single to her upcoming third studio album The Pink Print takes a more radio-friendly approach. Carried by a mellow hook and empowering lyrics, the song is likely to have an impact on radio airwaves and the charts. Stream above and share your thoughts on it in the comment section below.
Nicki Minaj unleashes a new gritty track “ChiRaq” featuring Lil Herb. No word whether this track will make it to her upcoming album or if Nick’s just throwing out a reminder that she actually has bars. Check it out.
After a long hiatus Nicki Minaj nearly had the most immaculate way to blow our socks off after being away for so long. Nick took it back to her mixtape days with this new single and video called “Lookin Ass Nigga”. She reminded us why she deserves respect as an artist, delivering every verse with a level a confidence you can’t help but admire (even if you want to hate her). Not to mention her new look his amazing. The more natural exotic style is a good look on her–No crazy color wigs and heavy make up, just jet black hair and a fresh face. You honestly couldn’t ask for a better fucking video even if it was just to gawk at her beauty.
And then she fucked everything up for me and my excitement for her return came crashing down. Just when I said to myself “Nick….You killed it!”, I see this:
Now I like my ratchet music just as much as the next person, but this is straight blasphemy. And if this isn’t disastrous enough, her half ass explanation/not really an apology is tragedy of epic proportions. Her quote from her Instagram:
…Well, I apologize. That was never the official artwork nor is this an official single. This is a conversation. Not a single. I am in the video shooting at Lookin Ass Niggaz and there happened to be an iconic photo of Malcolm X ready to do the same thing for what he believed in!!!! It is in no way to undermine his efforts and legacy. I apologize to the Malcolm X estate if the meaning of the photo was misconstrued…
I’m gonna need Nicki to know when to stop crawling for any way to get out of this one and just own up to it and give a REAL apology and don’t ever tie your nonsense to someone who someone who actually did something to help mankind and gave his life for it.
What exactly are you revolutionizing against? Oh that’s right “N*ggas” sharing one bottle in the club.
