Finally. I’ve been waiting to hear some news about Chris Brown that isn’t cringeworthy. Apparently Brown has been making moves behind the scenes besides getting into trouble. According to an US Weekly article entitled “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me”, Brown revealed that he owns 14 Burger King restaurants.
According to Burger King‘s corporate website, to qualify as a franchisee for the fast food chain, an individual must have a net worth of at least $1.5 million and have $500,000 in liquid assets. It takes an average of $1.2 million to $2.2 million to develop a BK location depending on where it’s located, its size and building code requirements. It also costs $50,000 to purchase a 20-year franchise agreement with the company.
But that’s nothing to a boss.
Through all the ups and down Chris Brown has experienced in the industry he somehow continues to put out music. Breezy sheds the bad boy party vibe we hear in”These Hoes Aint Loyal”, and goes back to the ballads with his latest release “Autumn Leaves”. Oh did we mention Kendrick Lamar hopped on this one? The song comes from his sixth studio album X which is out September 16th, 2014.
Check it out his previously released single “X”
It looks like the Bobby Schmurda movement has gotten some more steam with the release of a “Hot N*gga” remix. Schmurda has a deep bench for this one including Chris Brown, Fabolous, Busta Rhymes, Jada Kiss, and Yo Gotti. Check it out.
We weren’t too sure how Drake was going to pull of hosting the 2014 Espy Awards. As usual there are mixed feeling about Drake and hundreds of jokes going around about his corniness, but I have to admit some of the skits he had were pretty entertaining. For those of you that missed the award show, or just want to see the skits again, here they are.
Chris Brown has had a lot of setbacks including his ongoing crazy antics, suffocation from the paparazzi, and checking into rehab. It looks like we can still expect his upcoming album, X, to be released sometime in the near future. Until then, Breezy has released a short EP called X Files to hold us over until he can get it together. Stream it below.
No word yet on a set release date for X but it looks like it will include guest features from Kendrick Lamar, Kelly Rowland, Brandy, and more.
Chris Brown just dropped a new song and video for “Don’t Think They Know” featuring deceased singer Aaliyah. I’m definitely feeling the track 1) because Aaliyah’s on it and 2) because he used 90’s R&B Jon B‘s track “They Don’t Know” as inspiration for the hook. I wasn’t too sure about the concept of the video though. At first it just seemed like Chris made a bad PR move by playing a thug on both sides of LA’s most notorious street gangs, Crips and Bloods. Could he give the press any more ammo to make him look like a complete asshole? But then I watched an interview on his concept behind the video and all was forgiven. He took a page out of the movie Boyz N da Hood and channels Trey when he jumps out car full gang members taking a stance that he didn’t want to be part of gang violence. It still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense with the song but it hey, I’m not asking too many questions at this point. Check out “Don’t Think They Know” and the interview with Chris on the concept below.
“Don’t Think They Know” is a single from his forthcoming album X. No word on a release date but we’ll keep you posted.
