Erykah Badu releases a much anticipated and what seemed like an overnight album But You Cain’t Use My Phone. She recently released a single (dedicated to Drake), called “Phone Down” right on the heels of releasing the full project. Included on the release was a track entitled “Hello” with a lone feature from her ex beau Andre 3000. You can preview the single and full project on iTunes now.
If you’re not familiar with soulful crooner with a vintage sound, Leon Bridges, now is the time to get acquainted. His style (dress and music) will remind you of bluesy soul straight out of the 60’s. Something between Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, and the Temptations. You can stream his latest stuff below. You can stream his other single “Better Man” here.
Following their single “Adventure of a Lifetime”, Coldplay hits us with a second track “Everglow” from their upcoming album A Head Full of Dreams.
Travi$ Scott was in Montreal this week, continuing his supporting role for the ongoing Madness Tour with The Weeknd. Scott apparently was in the holiday giving spirit as he surprised fans with a new, never-before-heard song which one concert goer was able to capture and post on his Twitter

Timbaland has been on a roll promoting his new artist, Tink, for the past few months saying this is “the best project he’s done since Aaliyah’s One In A Million“. She had a remix with Rick Ross and Jay-Z, and is now on the same track with Andre 3000? She’s crossed a few things off her bucket list before being famous. Catch Timbaland’s preview of “UFO” with Tink and three stacks above.
Little Dragon couldn’t have picked a perfect cover than the Kelis/Andre 3000 track “Millionaire”. The synthy quirky vibe of the track fits Yukimi’s vocals like a hand in glove. Watch it above.
We finally have an official trailer to get a better feel for Andre 3000’s performance in the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic. The movie will be in theaters September 26th, 2014.
I think my brain is going to explode from all of the great things going on in Outkast’s world this year. Between the duo’s reunion for Coachella, along with more tour dates strung through the rest of the year I can barely contain myself. I just caught wind that Big Boi is making an appearance on my all-time favorite show “Game of Thrones” mixtape that will be released tomorrow. Now the internet is ablaze with the release of a clip of Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic All Is By My Side.
All Is By My Side is set to make its U.S. debut this week at SXSW. We’ll keep you posted.
With the release of the much-anticipated film The Great Gatsby, anxious music fans were treated with this accompanying soundtrack that carried nearly as much buzz as the movie as it crept closer and closer to its release date. Songs led by heavyweights such as Back to Black by André 3000 and Beyoncé were previewed on Hypebeast and other blogs prior to the soundtrack’s release. Movie fanatics already knew that with Baz Luhrmann at the helm (director, co-producer and co-screenplay writer) of The Great Gatsby they could expect an equally grandiose and ambitious musical score that promised to deliver. Luhrmann’s cinematic resumé includes Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, both of which followed the same musical formula: commissioning the biggest current artists to create or replicate relevant songs that interweave the plot’s poignant moments to connect the movie’s modern audience to a past era. What resulted is a masterfully crafted soundtrack that conveniently rides the coattails of The Great Gatsby demanding a listen from front to back. Although at first glance the wide range of artists seems disjointing, the underlying 20’s influence that gives it a nostalgic retro feel throughout provides a common thread. Once I pressed play, I was surprised to find myself rocking out to will.i.am’s Bang Bang, belting lyrics from Florence + The Machine’s Over The Love, and vibing to some Hearts A Mess by Gotye. This is what The Sampler is all about.
We’re actually surprised with Frank Ocean’s choice to make a video the single “Forest Gump” from his critically acclaimed studio album Channel Orange, but we trust his judgement. There’s a few singles we would’ve loved to see made into videos before this one like “Super Rich Kids” or even better “Pink Matter” with an appearance from Andre 3000, but we’re sure there is a good reason for his choice. Check out some still shots from the set below.
We were first put on to Las Vegas songstress, Arima Ederra, with her rendition of Andre 3000’s “Prototype”. She keeps the heat coming with her new track “Questions” featuring one of L.A.’s hidden gems and hip hop artist Blu. We don’t have a release date for Ederra’s debut album Earth to Arima, but it is set to drop sometime soon.
Las Vegas soul singer, Arima Ederra, has caught our ears today with her rendition of Andre 3000’s “Prototype” from The Love Below. What makes any cover great is when the artists really puts a different spin on the original without compromising the core of the original. There’s a delicate balance to covers and Ederra walks that line well.
Ederra is set to drop her own EP Earth to Arima sometime soon.
