Behind The Scenes: Rhythm Abroad Travel Host Brittany Pierce’s Secrets to Greatness

Brittany Pierce is the Executive Producer and Travel Host of the PBS Series Rhythm Abroad. Getting a show green lit for national television is not an easy feat.  After years of networking with the right people, securing major funding, and taking matters into her own hands, Brittany achieved just that. Ms. Pierce has kicked off our very first Behind The Scenes series, where we give you a glimpse into the real secrets of success: daily routine, rituals, and habits. Below is a snapshot of Brittany’s personal nostalgia and inspiration that has made her who she is today.

Teapot: I included that because when times are stressful, the tea is very soothing and allows me to calm down and gather my thoughts. The path that I’ve decided to pursue in the entrepreneurial space can be extremely stressful, and it’s important to find something that can help manage your stress levels

35 Cents: This was symbolic of one my lowest points as an entrepreneur. At this point, I literally had no money. To make light of the situation I had a running joke with my friend about how I couldn’t afford a Popeye’s biscuit (which was 35 cents or two for 50 cents. I really love Popeye’s biscuits!)  This was a reminder of where I’ve been and to stay hungry.

Key with Necklace: It is a necklace with the charm of a key but if you’ll notice it has my initials inside of it. This is a symbol that reminds me that I hold the power to create my own happiness, to release fear, to explore my own passions, and I have the key to create opportunities for myself.

“Count Your Blessings” Box: This is a way for me to stay consciously thankful for all that I do have in my life even in times when I’m not receiving the results that I want in my business, love live, or personal, really any aspect. I write down a blessing when it occurs to me and drop it in the box as a way to thank God and the universe for providing. It moves my focus and my energy away from worries and fear and raises my focus and energy on something positive and rewarding.

Two Pictures: One is picture of my mom and I in Thailand, and the other is of me and my two good friends in Mexico. They are my support system. They provide me with insight that’s needed. They are the ears that listen and they are the voice that soothes during difficult times. They are also the push that’s needed to help keep me going.

CSUN Degree: This is where I got my foundation in journalism and story telling. It is where I found my passion in putting together television stories. I was also awarded a full ride scholarship in my senior year which allowed me to travel internationally for the first time in my life. That travel experience is what sparked my passion what would later be Rhythm Abroad.

Business Card: It was the business card of my first job after graduating college.  I was fortunate enough to land my first job in such a large market as a budding journalist, but this came at a cost.  It was difficult moving away from family and friends, learning how to work in  a corporate setting, and how to stand up against workplace harassment. I was young, intimidated, and inexperienced in how to deal with adversity. This was most challenging but most eye-opening times of my life.

Life Coach, Susan Ferraro, has helped me in so many ways in my business by shifting my focus on everything BUT my business. It seems backwards, there is a method to her madness and there is power in working on things from the inside out. She has a website chocked full of videos that will literally change your life. I wanted to share one on how to stop mental habits that are blocking the dollar bills from rolling in because, well, that’s what everyone wants to know right?

The video is about an hour long, and I would watch the whole thing if you can or listen to it while your working. If you’re in a rush and need to get to the point, start the video at about 12 minutes in.
